This job is for a senior contract specialist at the U.S.
Army Corps of Engineers in Portland, Oregon, where you'll handle complex, high-value contracts for military, civil, and other government programs, from planning and negotiating deals to managing them after they're signed.

This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for Certain Personnel of the DoD Workforce to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service.
About the Position: Functions as a senior journey level Contract Specialist with primary responsibility for performing the most complex high dollar value contracts in support of the District's Military, Civil and Work-for-Others Programs.

Basic Requirement for Contract Specialist: Degree: Bachelor's degree (or higher degree) from an accredited educational institution authorized to grant baccalaureate degrees.
OR Exemption: You are exempt from the education requirements above if (A) you are a current civilian employee in DoD who occupied GS-1102 positions or contracting positions with authority to award or administer contracts above the simplified acquisition threshold in an Executive Department on or before September 30, 2000; OR (B) you are a current military member who occupied a similar occupational specialty to the GS (or equivalent)-1102 on or before September 30, 2000.
Minimum Qualifications for the GS-12: Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes experience which includes performing pre-award AND post award functions including FOUR of the following: negotiation, price analysis, acquisition strategy, contract administration, customer service, market research, and contract closeout.
This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-11).
Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify.
