Job Description
This position directly supports an Elected or Appointed Official and provides administrative/technical expertise in the assigned organization. Incumbents have regular and recurring contact with elected officials or their staff and must maintain confidential and sensitive information, may supervise staff, and are responsible for providing customer service, handling information requests, assisting with budget preparation, and performing other administrative functions.

Essential Duties
  • Supervising staff as needed, including prioritizing and assigning work; conducting performance evaluations; training staff; ensuring that employees follow policies and procedures; maintaining a healthy and safe working environment; and, making hiring, termination, and disciplinary recommendations.
  • Assisting an Elected or Appointed Official by coordinating work efforts and managing the flow of information to appropriate personnel, preparing correspondence and various reports of a confidential or technical nature, and providing research on special projects as needed.
  • Maintaining and controlling appointments and calendars for Elected Officials.
  • Handling requests for information from the general public, media, County staff, and Elected or Appointed Officials.
  • Providing administrative support to include answering phones, taking messages, filing, faxing, preparing mailings, ordering supplies, entering data, monitoring office inventory, and performing other related activities.
  • Researching, gathering, analyzing, and documenting file data and information to include performing research, recording legal documents, verifying the completeness and accuracy of correspondence of files and records, and other related activities.
  • Assisting in developing and tracking budget and department information, such as recommending budget figures, maintaining balances, researching discrepancies, and preparing related financial reports.
  • Assisting in overseeing department programs by reviewing forms and documents for compliance with policies and procedures.
  • Performing other duties of a similar nature or level.
Public Speaking Duties
  • Exchanging and conveying information and delivering instructions and guidance to coworkers, supervisor, the general public, and/or others.
Other Job Requirements/Information
  • A public safety background which may include motor vehicle & criminal histories, and fingerprinting.
  • May require on-call rotation and emergency after hours, weekends, and/or holidays.
Grade
The grade for this position is 101. Salary will be dependent on education and experience.

Effective 4/11/2023, this position is eligible for the Employee Referral Program.

Minimum Qualifications
  • High school Diploma AND
  • Four years of related experience providing executive level administrative support.
