Summary

This job involves leading a team to run recreational programs and events at parks and facilities, including scheduling activities, managing budgets, and ensuring everything runs smoothly and safely.

It also includes handling customer interactions, promoting programs, and overseeing youth camps and facility rentals.

A good fit would be someone with experience in recreation or community services who enjoys working with people, leading others, and organizing events.

  • First Aid Certification (required within 6 months of hire; preferred at time of hire)
  • One year of supervisory experience in a recreational setting (preferred)

Job Description
The Program Supervisor will be responsible for supervising staff to include prioritizing and assigning work, conducting performance evaluations, ensuring staff are trained, follow policies and procedures; and making hiring, termination, and disciplinary recommendations. In addition, this incumbent will be responsible for developing, overseeing, and scheduling the daily activities of recreational related programs and facility events.

Essential Duties
  • Handling daily operations, facility maintenance oversight, cash handling, budget preparation, and purchasing
  • Overseeing youth development programs including camps and adventure days out
  • Handling the permitting of all rentals to include indoor/outdoor recreation, athletic, and pavilion facilities
  • Communicating, developing and enforcing policies and procedures in relation to facility user groups
  • Involved in public relations, including hearing and resolving complaints, publicizing programs, events and interacting with user groups, general public and volunteers
  • Advertising and communicating about upcoming programs and events in multi-media platforms including outreach events
  • Maintaining records, forms, rules, regulations, and ordinances
  • Coordinating activities with internal and external departments to determine programming needs, evaluating program objectives, and marketing programs
  • Maintaining a healthy and safe working environment
Public Speaking Duties
  • Addressing groups and individuals in a public setting to express the department missions and goals
  • Acting as the Master of Ceremonies for events, and programs
Grade
The grade for this position is a grade B32(1). Salary will be dependent on education and experience.

Effective 4/11/2023, this position is eligible for the Employee Referral Program.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Parks and Recreation, Health and Human Services, Senior Services, Education, Hospitality, or Public Administration AND
  • Two years' experience in a recreational setting
    • An equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above will also be considered.
  • Valid Driver's License
  • CPR Certification within 6 months of hire
  • First Aid Certification within 6 months of hire
Preferred Qualifications in addition to the above minimum qualifications
  • One year of supervisory experience in a recreational setting
  • CPR Certification
  • First Aid Certification
