Summary

This job involves managing computer systems for a Department of the Air Force organization, including setting up new hardware and software, fixing issues, and helping users learn how to use them effectively.

The primary purpose of this position is to manage all aspects of information systems in include acquisition, support, training, and installations for an organization.

To maintain computer systems and assist users in the proper operation of the automated system for DLIELC and to coordinate and integrate technical aspects of computer work with administrative matters.

In order to qualify, you must meet the specialized experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for General Schedule Positions, Group Coverage Qualification Standards for Clerical and Administrative Support Positions for the GS-0335, Computer Clerk and Assistant Series.

Examples of specialized experience includes: Experience with computer equipment, internal computer processes, application and utility programs, and magnetic media, experience with wide range of computer techniques, requirements, sources, and procedures, experience with ide range of analytical and diagnostic methods, procedures, and principles to identify system failures, take corrective actions to resume normal operations, and implement procedures to allow for partial use until problems are resolved.

FEDERAL TIME-IN-GRADE (TIG) REQUIREMENT FOR GENERAL SCHEDULE (GS) POSITIONS: Merit promotion applicants must meet applicable time-in-grade requirements to be considered eligible.

One year at the GS-08 level is required to meet the time-in-grade requirements for the GS-09 level. TIG applies if you are in a current GS position or held a GS position within the previous 52 weeks.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas: Knowledge of DoD and Air Force automated data processing and networking standards, policies, and techniques Knowledge of computer hardware and software systems and their interfaces Knowledge of data content and output options for a variety of administrative, scientific and/or technical program applications that are processed on any of several multi-program operating systems Knowledge of facility environment and infrastructure to support computer systems Ability to use and maintain a computer system, equipment, and software Ability to analyze computer network, software, and hardware problems, and develop effective and economical solutions Ability to tram users on new computer systems Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work.

You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week.

VOLUNTEER WORK EXPERIENCE: Refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service Programs (i.e., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student and social).

Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge and skills that can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment.

You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Major Duties:

Administers information systems Serves as project officer for recommending selection of and installing new computer systems and software, and maintaining all computer systems Installs hardware and software, maintains network operations, and ensures that inquires and problems concerning networks, computers, peripherals, and services are expeditiously resolved.
