This position offers a hybrid work arrangement, combining remote work with scheduled onsite work at our DOH facility in Tumwater, approximately 1-2 days per month or week.

Key Responsibilities Include:

As the Complaint Intake Unit Supervisor, you will oversee a team of six skilled professionals in the Complaint Intake Unit. You will:

  • Lead and Develop Your Team:Recruit, hire, train, and guide team members while ensuring their professional growth. Hold staff accountable for performance and compliance with policies.
  • Enhance Quality and Accountability:Review work for accuracy and conduct systematic reviews to ensure the quality and completeness of processes.
  • Provide Expert Guidance:Act as a subject matter expert, offering technical consultation on health professions and facility complaints to staff, providers, and the public.
  • Ensure Operational Excellence:Manage daily operations, maintain accurate databases, and collaborate with other units to resolve complaints efficiently.
  • Step Into Leadership:Represent the manager in their absence, respond to inquiries from interested parties, and support compliance functions when needed.

Required Qualifications

Option 1: Four (4) or more years of experience in a regulatory position with an emphasis on health professions, health care facilities, complaints, legal compliance, or enforcement; AND two (2) years of experience in a lead or supervisory role.


Option 2: Two (2) or more years of lead-worker or supervisory experience in a Department of Health regulatory position.

This experience can include credentialing, program support, legal support, administrative support, complaint intake, discipline, compliance, or adjudicative services; AND One (1) or more years of experience using the Integrated Licensing and Regulatory System (ILRS) or equivalent or similar licensing or regulatory database.



Additional Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and Experience

Preferred Qualifications

While these aren’t required, having them can help you stand out as a candidate.

  • Six (6) or more months of experience as a section lead or supervisor in a health services program or health-care-related office in a higher-level administrative, regulatory, or legal capacity.
  • Familiarity with commonly used concepts, practices, and procedures within the HSQA Complaint Intake Unit.
  • One (1) or more years of experience interpreting & applying RCW’s & WACs or an organization’s policies & procedures.
  • Two (2) or more years of experience reviewing documents and taking appropriate action based on an analysis of the information.
  • Two (2) or more years of demonstrated experience in a regulatory or disciplinary environment.
  • Two (2) or more years of experience using Adobe Pro to edit, convert, and collaborate on documents.
  • Two (2) or more years of experience using Adobe Pro DC, Redact-it or similar software to redact identifying & sensitive information (name, SSN, address, etc.) from documents.
  • Two (2) or more years of experience using the Department of Health’s Integrated Licensing & Regulatory System (ILRS).

Working Conditions:

The following describes the working conditions of this position, with or without reasonable accommodation.


Work Setting:

The position requires regular in-person attendance to perform duties on-site at the Tumwater DOH office (1-2 days per week). When not working on-site, this position may work from home, a DOH office, or an alternate location.


Schedule:

This position has a work schedule of 40 hours per week; however, the position may be expected to work longer hours to [complete projects or assignment, and/or meeting business demands and deadlines, and/or during the annual legislative session].

An alternative or flexible work schedule may be considered at the incumbent's request, subject to supervisory approval.


Travel Requirements:

Travel is not required to perform the duties of this position; however occasional travel may be expected to attend meetings, trainings, or conferences.

When driving for state business, the employee must be able to legally operate a state or privately-owned vehicle; OR provide alternate transportation while on state business.
