DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES/ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Serve as the primary point of contact for community outreach and public engagement efforts for the Department. Plan, coordinate, and facilitate public engagement meetings during both regular business hours and evenings/weekends as required. Conduct and coordinate weekly meetings with City Council district representatives and staff. Receive, track, and appropriately route 3-1-1 inquiries, ensuring timely responses and follow-up. Coordinate and communicate with City of Houston departments, agencies, and other key stakeholders. Manage and facilitate the City of Houston’s Adopt-A-Drain program, including organizing and supporting multiple community engagement events throughout the year. Develop outreach materials and messaging to effectively communicate project operations goals, timelines, and impacts to the public. Document community feedback and concerns and coordinate responses with project and City teams. Completes special projects as assigned, working on a wide variety of administrative, professional management and community issues and problems of medium to high complexity.

WORKING CONDITIONS
There are occasional discomforts from exposure to moderate heat, cold, moisture/wetness and unpleasant air conditions.

This is a Department of Houston Public Works position at the Tier II Level.

Requirements

MINIMUM EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS
Requires a Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Public Administration or a field directly related to the type of work being performed.

MINIMUM EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
Three years of professional experience in community organizational work, resource and referral services, or a closely related field are required.

Professional experience related to the type of work to be performed may substitute for the education requirement on a year-for-year basis.

Graduate degrees related to the type of work to be performed may substitute for the experience requirement on a year-for-year basis.

MINIMUM LICENSE REQUIREMENTS
None

Qualifications


Valid Texas Driver's License and compliance with the city of Houston's policy on driving.

**Preference shall also be given to eligible veteran applicants provided such persons possess the qualifications necessary for competent discharge of the duties involved in the position applied for, such persons are among the most qualified candidates for the position, and all other factors in accordance with Executive Order 1-6.**
