Full Job Description

This position is located in the Office of the Chief of Staff, Office of the Director, Pentagon Force Protection Agency (PFPA).

The Communications and Protocol Specialist serves as a pivotal figure within the Office of the Chief of Staff at the Pentagon Force Protection Agency (PFPA).

In order to qualify for this position, you must meet the requirements described below.

You may qualify at the GS-14 level, if you fulfill the following qualification requirement: One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-13 grade level in the Federal service (experience may have been gained in the private sector) that demonstrates your experience in 1) providing invaluable insight on political and congressional liaison principles, methods, practices and techniques; 2) using a wide range of qualitative and quantitative evaluative techniques in program analysis to identify, evaluate, resolve, and present issues or problems; 3) establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with individuals having opposing points of view and conflicting interests and; 4) developing and preparing high-level communications to include talking points, speeches, and briefing presentations to leaders.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social).

You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

Incumbent typical work assignments may include the following: Specializes in the formulation, coordination, and processing of sensitive congressional responses and Department of War (DoW) protocol matters within the Pentagon Force Protection Agency (PFPA).

Formulates strategies for achieving and maintaining a proactive and fully engaged protocol program for the Agency.

Provides substantive information relative to assigned responsibility for responses to Members of Congress, their staff or others having interest in the mission and functions.

Represents PFPA on a variety of councils, boards, working groups and panels inside and outside the agency including the Office of the Secretary of War, DA&M, Joint Staff, Unified Combatant Commands and other government and nongovernmental, public, civic, industry, business, educational and media organization.
