Job Description

Summary

This job involves monitoring contractors who handle stocking, cleaning, and other services in a military grocery store to ensure everything runs smoothly and meets quality standards.

You'll inspect work, check compliance with rules, and sometimes step in to manage store operations during off-hours.

Full Job Description

Serves as a Commissary Contractor Monitor in a commissary store at a Defense Commissary Agency (DeCA) facility.

The primary purpose of this position is to conduct quality assurance inspections and contract surveillance duties of specified commissary stocking, order-writing, custodial, receiving, holding and/or other contracted services performed in a commissary.

You can use experience, education, superior academic achievement, or a combination of experience and education to qualify.

Experience: One (1) year of demonstrated knowledge of retail procurement and distribution methods; principles, procedures, and techniques of retail food merchandising and retail food store management; and developments in commercial retail food store items, equipment, and practices (specialized experience) equivalent to at least the GS-5 grade level.

Experience can be under other Federal service pay systems, private sector, or military.

Examples of qualifying experience include: Conducting quality assurance inspections and contract surveillance duties of specified commissary or retail grocery contracted services.

Applying retail grocery store administration policies and procedures as they relate to established contracts. Monitoring vendors and/or contractors in a retail setting to ensure proper inventory..

You will receive credit for all relevant qualifying experience (paid and unpaid), including volunteer work done through National Service program (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social).

Physical requirements: (1) The work requires some physical exertion to include long periods of standing, walking in commissary stores and storage areas, and recurring bending, crouching, stooping, stretching, reaching or similar activities.

Conduct quality assurance inspections and contractor surveillance.

Provide comments and recommendations for additions, deletions, or changes to contractor services to ensure compliance with DeCA directives.

Approve or rejects contractor's work schedule and checks work for quality and timeliness.

Maintain the store's space allocations program by such duties as designating to the contractor proper item shelf locations when shelf tags are missing or otherwise not identifiable.
