This vacancy is for a GS-0318-8, Command Assistant located in the Department of Homeland Security, U.S. Coast Guard, NATIONAL MARITIME CENTER in MARTINSBURG, West Virginia.
To qualify at the GS-08 grade level, your resume must demonstrate at least one (1) full year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-07 grade level in the federal sector.
Specialized experience is experience that has equipped you with the ability, skill, and knowledge to successfully perform the duties of this position and is typically in or related to this line of work.
Examples of specialized experience include performing the following types of tasks on a regular basis.

You will serve as a Command Assistant and be responsible providing executive level administrative services for the Commanding Officer and Deputy Director of the National Maritime Center and general support to the NMC Command staff.

Typical work assignments include: Manages appointments and schedules for senior leadership to ensure efficient time allocation Ensures commitments made during meetings are followed though keeping the supervisor informed of their progress Manages correspondence and routine email for leadership to ensure actions are completed Drafts basic correspondence and documents using templates and established guidelines for leadership signature Prepares travel orders, itineraries, and agendas for official travel in accordance with applicable instructions Maintains front office procedures such as VIP visit protocols Reasonable Accommodation (RA) Requests: If you believe you have a disability (i.e., physical or mental), covered by the Rehabilitation Act of 1973 as amended that would interfere with completing the USA Hire Competency Based Assessments, you will be granted the opportunity to request a RA in your online application.
