Key Requirements

Job Title: Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT) Program Specialist 3 (PS3)
Location: Aberdeen, WA – Harbor Heights 100% on sight
Closes: Thursday, December 25, 2025
Salary: $56,880.00 - $76,608.00 Yearly. The salary does not include an on-site 24/7 facility 5% premium.


The Department of Children, Youth, and Families (DCYF) is looking for Program Specialist 3 to provide the delivery of Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT), to include: Individual Counseling, Skills Groups, staff consultation, and guidance for Continuous Quality Improvement of therapeutic living environments, as determined by Environmental Adherence assessments.Click here to learn more about DCYF.The Opportunity:In this role you will provide behavioral assessment, treatment, rehabilitation, and case management services in a multi-disciplinary outpatient setting, and consultation and education to program personnel.

Provide prescribed treatment, maintain case records, participate in data collection and research, and perform case management functions.

This position is a member of the JR Division of Clinical Programs, and functions under the direct supervision of the Behavioral Health Administrator.Some of what you will do:

  • Provide in-person individual counseling based on established standards of agency-approved CBT programs.
  • Co-lead CBT skills training groups with program staff.
  • Support the skills development and performance evaluation of program staff who assist with groups.
  • Provide guidance and consultation to Residential Counselors and other program personnel regarding the execution of treatment plans and in support of the Environmental Adherence of the residential program.
  • Coordinate with inter-disciplinary clinicians, family members, agency staff, community partners, and Reentry Team members to support case management, reentry processes and continuity of care.
  • Provide documentation, session recordings, and direct observations as required to demonstrate and maintain model fidelity.
  • Lead program Consultation Team with program staff and leadership in compliance with best practices and established standards.
  • Develop and execute plans and strategies to support program and staff development and continuous quality improvement, to include corrective action
    plans in response to Environment Adherence evaluations.


Required Qualifications:

  • Six years of experience in the juvenile justice or social service field providing counseling services to clients from diverse backgrounds with complex needs.

OR

  • Associates Degree in Social Work, Psychology, Mental Health, or a related field, AND four years of experience in the juvenile justice or social service field providing counseling services to clients from diverse backgrounds with complex needs.

OR

  • Bachelor's Degree in Social Work, Psychology, Mental Health, or a related field, AND two years of experience in the juvenile justice or social service field providing counseling services to clients from diverse backgrounds with complex needs.
AND

  1. The ability to take action to learn and grow.
  2. The ability to take action to meet the needs of others.


In addition to those required qualifications, our ideal applicant will also have some or all of the following:

  • Demonstrated experience and working knowledge of principles, skills and practice of CBT, or functionally similar cognitive behavioral therapies.
  • Professional experience with cognitive behavioral interventions in a social services or treatment setting.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and skill with assessment and treatment applications of best-practice principles and strategies associated with trauma-informed and culturally responsive treatment, CBT, social learning theory, and mindfulness-based practices.
  • Demonstrated ability to use technology to improve efficiency, accuracy, quality, and communication of clinical work.
  • Demonstrated knowledge, experience, and personal insight concerning racial justice, system inequity, disparities and disproportionality in legal systems, and the post-traumatic impact of racial discrimination.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and ability to coach and support others. Skilled in supporting staff development, conflict resolution and team cohesion.
