Take the next step in your career with the Department of Education as a Clerical Assistant 3 where you will provide complex and detailed clerical support primarily for the Supervisors and Administrators of the federal Child Nutrition Programs, specifically for the National School Lunch Program (NSLP) and Summer Food Services Program (SFSP). Requirements

As a Clerical Assistant 3, you will have significant contact with the Division's external and internal customers, including personnel from public and private schools and residential childcare facilities.

Key to this position is providing quality customer service when answering and transferring telephone calls and responding to inquiries.

Work includes maintaining complete and accurate customer and sponsor files and preparing files for archiving.

You will have the opportunity to contact sponsors and customers to request information and provide specialized technical assistance for customers based on areas of responsibilities, knowledge of required forms, and submission deadlines.

Additional duties:

  • Receive, open, and distribute mail to appropriate staff in the Division of Food and Nutrition
  • Develop and maintain excel spreadsheets
  • Receive and track correspondence and documentation
  • Schedule rooms for meetings, trainings and workshops
  • Maintain supplies and storage areas

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment
  • Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 60-minute lunch.
  • Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time. This position is required to report to the worksite two days a week (Wednesday and Thursday).

    In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania.

    If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Harrisburg. The ability to telework is subject to change at any time.

Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • One year as a Clerical Assistant 2 (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration); or
  • One year of moderately complex clerical experience; or
  • An equivalent combination of experience and training.
