Requirements

This position provides clerical support for the maintenance garage and staff to ensure operational goals are met in an efficient and timely manner. This position utilizes multiple software programs to prepare correspondence and reports, track information, and review and complete tasks within these systems. This position directly reports to the garage supervisor, creating and maintaining files, reports, correspondence, meeting notes/ minutes, and providing other clerical support functions for the garage staff. This position assists the purchasing agent with inventory control and distribution of physical items and other store room tasks as needed. Assists the county timekeeper with basic entry and verification of SAP information and serves as the back-up to the county dispatch and regularly participates in answering calls and emails from the general public, updating the Roadway Closure Reporting System, Customer Care Center complaint status, and other reporting and tracking systems as required. This position is required to work overtime/ storm shift/ dual shift hours during emergent weather situations.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment
  • Work hours are 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
  • Overtime, dual-shift, and holiday shifts may be required during storm operations
  • Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.
  • Salary: Selected candidates who are new to employment within the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania will begin employment at the starting annual salary of $36,108 (before taxes).

Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
  • Six months as a Clerical Assistant 1 (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration); or
  • Graduation from high school; or
  • An equivalent combination of experience and training.

Additional Requirements:
  • Keyboarding skills to meet standards for speed and accuracy.
  • Six (6) months or more of full-time, moderately complex clerical experience.
  • One (1) year or more of experience with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
  • One (1) year or more of experience sorting, filing, and retrieving documents using a specific system to keep them organized and to be able to retrieve documents/files as needed.
  • Two (2) years or more of customer service experience dealing with inquiries from the general public.
  • Previous experience entering time worked or payroll for others.
  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.

Preferred (not required) Qualifications:
  • You must be able to perform the essential job functions in a garage (not office) environment.
