Requirements

In this position, you will perform a variety of complex clerical work to ensure that our office’s operations are conducted efficiently and effectively.

Responsibilities involve answering phones and correspondence, processing mail, processing bills, compiling reports, navigating computer programs, and using standard office equipment.

This includes providing guidance or instruction and answering general questions from the public about specific forms, general labor laws, and laws covered by the Bureau as well as inputting information into our case tracking system, ensuring information is complete and accurate.


Our team will also rely on you to review, process, and reply to standard correspondence regarding Certificates for Minimum Wage or applications for permits or waivers regarding the Child Labor Act and review referrals of cases in which a minor was injured in the workplace.

This includes approving or denying work permits and waivers for minors in entertainment or performances, escalating complex requests, and flagging serious cases for immediate investigation.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment
  • Work hours are 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 60-minute lunch.
  • Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time.

    In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania.

    If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Harrisburg. The ability to telework is subject to change at any time.

Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • One year as a Clerical Assistant 2 (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration); or
  • One year of moderately complex clerical experience; or
  • An equivalent combination of experience and training.


Additional Requirements:

  • You must be able to fluently speak and write in Spanish.
  • You must possess at least one year of experience answering and assisting with incoming phone calls.
  • You must possess at least one year of experience providing clerical/administrative support.
  • You must possess working experience with Microsoft Office Suite, such as Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
  • You must demonstrate ability to adhere to the values and ethics of the Department of Labor and Industry.
  • You must demonstrate ability to work with professionalism, discretion, and good work ethic.
  • You must have solid written and verbal communication skills.
  • You must show initiative and problem-solving skills.
  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.
