The Department of Military & Veterans Affairs is searching for an independent, responsible candidate to fill our Clerical Assistant 2 position at the Southwestern Veterans Center located in Pittsburgh, PA.

The candidate must possess excellent written and verbal communication skills in order to type clear and concise documents such as memos, emails and invoices.

Requirements

This position provides administrative and clerical support to the Dietary staff at the Southwestern Veterans' Center. Responsibilities include coordinating and maintaining daily appointment schedules, creates reports as directed for the Dietary department, maintains Dietary files, and communicate with other departments on Dietary business. This position works closely with Dietary Management to organize and provide high quality services to our Veteran population. Additional duties include answering telephones calls, making copies, typing documents, and send/receive faxes as needed. You will enter information into computerized menu system, run necessary reports, and provide to appropriate staff for meal needs.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:
  • Full-time employment, 37.5 hours per week.
  • Work hours are 8:00am to 4:00pm, Monday-Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
  • Shift may change based on operational needs.
  • Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.
  • Salary: Selected candidates who are new to employment within the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania will begin employment at the starting annual salary of $36,108 (before taxes).

Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
  • Six months as a Clerical Assistant 1 (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration); or
  • Graduation from high school; or
  • An equivalent combination of experience and training.

Additional Requirements:
  • Two (2) years or more of experience working with software applications within the Microsoft package and other software packages to create and maintain spreadsheets, calendars, documents, and rosters.
  • Ability to work with various office equipment such as scanner, printer, fax, computer, tablet, telephone, and personal communication devices.
  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.

Legal Requirements:
  • This position falls under the provisions of the Older Adult Protective Services Act.
    • Under the Act, a conditional offer of employment will require submission and approval of satisfactory criminal history reports, including but not limited to, PA State Police and FBI clearance.
  • A conditional offer of employment will require a medical examination.
