Shape the Future of Transportation with PennDOT District 9!
Are you a passionate civil engineer eager to leverage your skills on impactful projects?
If so, join the Department of Transportation (PennDOT) as a Civil Engineer with the Survey Unit and play a key role in designing and improving Pennsylvania's transportation infrastructure.
This is your chance to make a real difference by contributing to a variety of highway, bridge, and multi-modal projects that connect communities and propel economic growth.
Here, you will work alongside seasoned professionals and collaborate with other engineers, designers, and project managers to ensure the success of transportation initiatives.

As a Civil Engineer, you will assist the Chief of Surveys by performing engineering work in support of roadway design, right-of-way development, and survey-based engineering plan review.
You will utilize engineering software to develop roadway alignments to ensure alignment accuracy, minimum curve radius, and grade consistency with current design standards, in addition to reviewing Line, Grade, and Typical Section (LGTS) submissions to confirm that roadway geometry, drainage, and guiderail layouts meet design requirements and constructability standards.
You will also be responsible for reviewing in-house right-of-way plans to verify property plots and ensure compliance with PennDOT policies and design criteria.
Additional areas of focus include preparing engineering correspondence, review comments, and documentation related to plan evaluations, consultant submissions, and technical findings.
The ability to effectively collaborate is key, as you will be working with in-house design squads to provide engineering input on survey data integration, geometric alignment, and plan accuracy.
