Full Job Description
Under close supervision, performs entry-level Financial duties necessary to conduct audits of
Bureau for Child Support Enforcement (BCSE) cases at either a BCSE Field Office or the BCSE
State Office Financial Unit including analysis of transactions for both caretakers and obligors.
Through formal classroom training, and on the job training job assessments designed to develop an
expansive understanding of not only mathematical models but various application in order to
correctly assist the BCSE Attorney and Officers of the Court in Enforcement and Establishment of
support actions.
Will analyze caretaker and obligor case to determine the accuracy of the financial
histories of the cases. If appropriate, performs audits to have balances corrected utilizing several
different databases to complete all pertinent data needed to complete the audit. Verifies the data in
the physical case file and the automated database affecting the allocation and distribution of child
and spousal support payments by reviewing the data for accuracy, completeness, and compliance to
the requirements as set forth by BCSE Policies and Procedures, Federal and State Laws and
Regulations.
Employee learns to review valid legal documents and court orders in the case and
evaluates the accuracy as entered on the Child Support Enforcement's automated system, performs
caretaker accounting to calculate amounts owed to the caretaker. Overpayments to caretakers and
refunds to obligors. Provides explanation of cases financial work upon request by staff.

Qualifications
Training: Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university.
ORSubstitution: Successful completion of a paralegal or legal secretarial training program may substitute for two (2) years of the required training
ORFull-time or equivalent part-time paid experience:
in a legal setting which required performing legal research, reading and interpreting laws, preparing legal documents and assisting in the preparation and assessment of case files under the supervision of an attorney
ORin debt collections, credit investigations, criminal investigations, law enforcement, accounting, or auditing
ORas an Economic Service Worker or Family Support Specialist
ORany combination thereof may substitute for the required training at a rate of one (1) year of experience for every thirty (30) semester hours of training.
ANDSpecial Requirement: May be required to have a valid driver’s license and availability of a vehicle for continuous use.
Additional Information
Probationary period is twelve (12) months.
Substitution: To allow clerical/customer service, and corrections/community corrections experience to substitute for required training or experience. One (1) year of full-time or equivalent part-time paid professional experience as a Child Support Specialist Trainee may substitute for the required training and
experience.
