This job is for a skilled carpenter who will build, install, repair, and modify wooden structures and items, including minor roofing fixes, at an Air Force facility in Massachusetts.
It involves working independently with tools and materials to ensure everything is structurally sound and safe.
A good fit would be someone with hands-on carpentry experience who can follow instructions, measure accurately, and maintain a clean workspace without much oversight.

The primary purpose of this position is to provide full performance level work in constructing, installing, repairing, and modifying wood and wood substitute structures and items requiring close tolerance fit and structural soundness.
Performs minor roofing repairs to the Structures Lead.
In order to qualify, you must meet the quality level of experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards Handbook X-118C.
QUALIFICATIONS: Applicants will be rated in accordance with the OPM Qualification Standard Handbook X-118C for the WG-4600 Woodwork Family.
Although a specific length of time and experience is not required for most blue-collar positions, you must meet any screen-out element listed and show through experience and training that you possess the quality level of knowledge and skill necessary to perform the duties of the position at the level for which you are applying.
Qualification requirements emphasis is on the quality of experience, not necessarily the length of time.
The screen out element for this position is Ability To Do The Work Of The Position Without More Than Normal Supervision JOB ELEMENTS: Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas: Knowledge of Equipment Assembly, Installation, Repair, etc.
Technical Practices (theoretical, precise, artistic) Ability To Interpret Instructions, Specifications, etc.
(includes blueprinting reading) Measurement and Layout Ability To Use and Maintain Tools and Equipment Knowledge of Materials PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work.
You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week.

Major Duties:
1. Independently applies skilled methods, techniques, and advanced shop mathematics to construct, install, repair, and modify a wide variety of structures. 2.
Repairs all types of roofing consisting of asphalt, all types of tile, slate roll roofing, felts, and shingles. 3.
Utilizes safety practices and procedures following established safety rules and regulations and maintains a safe and clean environment. 4. Uses and maintains tools. 5.
Maintains records and documents actions.
