In order to qualify, you must meet the requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for General Schedule Technical and Medical Support Positions.

SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Applicants must have at least one (1) year of specialized experience at the next lower grade GS-07, or equivalent in other pay systems.

Examples of specialized experience includes: Experience that involved scheduling the movement of cargo into or through one or more freight terminals in the appropriate amounts in order to balance the flow with the terminals' capacity to accommodate the freight and the carriers' capacity to transport the cargo; Overall knowledge of Department of Defense and Air Mobility Command transportation regulations, manuals and instructions; Knowledge of transport aircraft and related load characteristics Knowledge of hazardous and/or explosive cargo movement procedures and compatibility; Knowledge and skill in planning and executing overall safe air cargo loading Knowledge of and ability to perform Phase II load master functions; Knowledge of and ability to operate a computerized system utilizing such applications as Computer Aided Load Manifesting (CALM) or similar system.

FEDERAL TIME-IN-GRADE (TIG) REQUIREMENT FOR GENERAL SCHEDULE (GS) POSITIONS: Merit promotion applicants must meet applicable time-in-­grade requirements to be considered eligible.

One year at the GS-07 level is required to meet the time-in-grade requirements for the GS-08 level. TIG applies if you are in a current GS position or held a GS position within the previous 52 weeks.

NOTE: Applicants applying as VEOA candidates who are current GS civil service employees or are prior GS civil service employees within the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas: Overall knowledge of Department of Defense and Air Mobility Command transportation regulations, manuals and instructions.

PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work.

You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Major Duties:

Summary The primary purpose of this position is to serve as a load planner/inspector responsible for proper pre-planning, control, and selection of cargo for timely movement through the aerial port to a variety of Continental U.S.

(CONUS) and other overseas (foreign/domestic) destinations in accordance with correct precedence, priority, date of receipt, critical selection (size, weight, cube, commodity, and special handling codes), weights and balance of various types/configurations of aircraft, loading, and enroute station restrictions, and to assure continuous maximum utilization of available airlift capability.

Duties/Responsibilities: Attends briefings at the start of work shift and obtains overall air freight shipment schedules for the next 24-hour period.

Programs special cargo movement involving dangerous/hazardous materials.

Monitors movement of "super" priority cargo (Green Sheet, 999, Project Code, Sensitive Cargo, Reefer, Life or Death, FSS, MICAP, etc.) into the Aerial Port for expeditious movement to final destination.

On a continuing basis, maintains contacts with contracted activity managers, other installations, various elements of the aerial port assigned personnel and tenants to coordinate cargo shipment planning as appropriate.

Performs various related support duties involving the load planning and inspection activity.
