Position Overview:
History Colorado is hiring a Career Pathways Engagement Coordinator to lead its statewide AmeriCorps program, ensuring continuity, building partnerships, and guiding its next phase of impact. This role manages program operations, mentors AmeriCorps members and supervisors, and supports career pathways in public history, museums, and preservation. Ideal candidates combine strong grant and budget management skills with a passion for mentoring and fostering professional growth.

Key Responsibilities:
AmeriCorps Program Leadership & Operations (90%)
  • Lead statewide management of the History Colorado AmeriCorps program, ensuring compliance with Serve Colorado and AmeriCorps regulations.
  • Oversee grant performance, reporting, budgeting, and fiscal operations in partnership with the Finance and Philanthropy departments.
  • Monitor member activities, timekeeping, and training compliance; act as program liaison at state and federal meetings.
  • Support AmeriCorps members and site supervisors with HR guidance, professional development, and conflict resolution.
  • Lead recruitment, marketing, outreach, and interview coordination for members.
  • Manage onboarding, background checks, payroll, and placements.
  • Facilitate orientations and provide ongoing professional development opportunities for members.
Career Pathways & Volunteer Engagement (10%)
  • Coordinate programs that expose students to careers in public history, museums, and preservation.
  • Integrate interns and fellows into AmeriCorps professional development opportunities.
  • Present at university and community career & internship fair events.
  • Support volunteer program administration, database maintenance, and volunteer events.

Qualifications

Proven Experience, Knowledge, Skills:
  • Two (2) years of full-time professional experience with primary focus of Coordinating grants or complex, compliance-driven projects, preferably in a nonprofit, government, or AmeriCorps setting.
  • Organizing and leading training, professional development, and cohort activities.
  • Preferred: experience with young adults in national service or workforce programs, influencing supervisors, public speaking, and working with diverse communities.
  • Part-time experience will be pro-rated.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Attention to detail
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills with the ability to engage diverse communities statewide in a clear and professional manner.
  • Data Fluency & Reporting
  • A background in managing a program budget
  • Experience working in a museum setting
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • The ability to juggle multiple project schedules.
  • Understanding of and experience working with young adults in national service
  • An enthusiasm to explore ideas, amplify diverse voices, and help others discover what makes Colorado Colorado.
  • Relevant experience working for the State of Colorado.
Conditions of Employment:
  • Ability to travel statewide for outreach and training events (up to seven AmeriCorps host locations twice in a year)
  • Driver's License: Must possess and maintain a valid State of Colorado driver’s license. Use of a personal vehicle for state business may be required, provided insurance meets state requirements.
  • I-9 Verification: In accordance with the Immigration Reform and Control Act, the selected candidate will be required to provide proof of identity and authorization to work in the United States.
  • Final candidates must successfully pass a comprehensive background check, which may include a criminal history review, employment verification, and reference checks.

Final offers are determined by a comprehensive salary analysis in compliance with the Colorado Equal Pay for Equal Work Act, considering factors such as a candidate’s relevant experience, education, work location and internal equity.
