Note: Actual salary includes locality pay (15-40%+ depending on location).

King County’s Facilities Management Division (FMD) is excited to welcome a dynamic and forward-thinking leader to serve as our next Capital Planning Section Manager.
In this role, you will guide the Capital Planning Section (CPS), which is responsible for FMD’s asset management program, capital project contracting team, capital project and maintenance software systems (experience with Maximo, Unifier, or Prism is helpful but not required), and capital project planning and budget development.
We’re looking for someone who can shape the future of capital planning at FMD and someone who is ready to champion a data-driven, strategically aligned capital program with clear goals and measurable outcomes.
A track record of transforming programs or leading organizational change is a strong plus.
Collaboration is essential, especially with the Capital Project Delivery team, Finance team, and senior leadership.
This position plays a central role in prioritizing, developing, and monitoring capital project budgets, driving process improvements, supporting staff, and fostering a positive, engaged team culture.
This is a highly visible leadership role with daily interaction across all levels of the organization, including agency partners from multiple branches of government. Success in this position requires a commitment to innovation and efficiency, a drive to achieve meaningful results, and a passion for building strong, high-performing teams. This position reports to the Deputy Division Director – Operations.KEY RESPONSIBILITIES FOR THE CAPITAL IMPROVEMENT PROJECTS SECTION MANAGER:
The Capital Planning Section Manager is responsible for managing the daily operations of the section’s various functions and will be tasked with building and implementing a strategic asset management plan, contracting for projects, performance management, and process improvement capacities for the section.
