Summary

Full Job Description

Under limited supervision and at an advanced level, coordinate and supervise a variety of building and grounds maintenance projects, including major deferred maintenance projects, for thirty-six (36) secure facilities in the Division of Corrections and Rehabilitation (DCR). Oversee the work of skilled and semi-skilled maintenance employees and work crews engaged in building maintenance and groundskeeping projects. Evaluate existing buildings and grounds conditions to make recommendations on repairs and/or improvements. Able to read and interpret specifications, drawings, schematics, and building plans. Develops project plans, specifications, drawings, schematics, and estimates for cost, time, and materials needed for effective project completion. Ensure proper skills and competence levels for employees and work crews; arrange for training for employees in the proper methods, techniques, tools and equipment, and safety precautions for assigned work. This position may involve work hazards associated with heavy machinery, motorized equipment, and power tools. Work may involve exposure to inclement weather. Perform other duties as required. This position will cover all locations where the DCR facilities are located. Travel is required.

Qualifications

Training:
Graduation from a standard high school or equivalent.
Substitution:
Additional experience as described below may be substituted on a year-for-year basis for the required training.

Experience:
Eight years of full-time or equivalent part-time paid experience in building maintenance, building construction, or in the installation and maintenance of building electrical or heating systems.
Substitution:
Successful completion of study in a regionally accredited college or university in building trades, or related business or vocational school training may be substituted for the general experience on a year-for-year basis up to two (2) years of the required experience.

Special Requirement:
Specific positions may require certification from a federal EPA approved testing organization as a certified technician required by the Clean Air Act on refrigerant recycling.
