General Responsibilities:
Serves as the Budget Analyst for the agency and assists the Budget Supervisor in preparation and management of agency budget to include reviewing, analyzing, and evaluating state budgetary procedures to meet fiscal requirements.

Specific Duties:
  • Assists in preparation of annual budget to include budget requests, detail budget loads, expenditure forecasting, internal and external budgetary presentations, and implementing and monitoring program budgets.

  • Coordinates and prepares expenditure/revenue analysis reports, overtime reports, travel budgets, cost allocations, and relevant journal entries, as needed. Reconciles and researches errors and ensures corrective action is taken. Reviews and processes shopping carts.

  • Responsible for the creation and distribution of monthly status reports for internal and capital projects for the agency. Assists Budget Supervisor with information requests, as needed.

  • Distributes budgetary instructions and develops and/or explains the use of budgetary forms, interprets policies and procedures, and prepares budgetary reports and amendments for review.

  • Conducts special projects at management’s request; prepares and presents reports.

  • Other related duties as assigned.


Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, business or related field or an acceptable equivalency as approved by the Division of State Human Resources.
  • Must have professional experience directly related to accounting, auditing, finance, or budget.
  • Ability to interpret analyze financial data, records and reports.
  • Extensive knowledge in Microsoft Excel.
  • Position may require occasional overtime and weekend availability.

Qualifications

  • Knowledge of State governmental fiscal and budgetary processes.
  • Experience with SCEIS or SAP preferred.
