This job as a Budget Analyst with U.S.
Customs and Border Protection involves helping manage budgets for human resources, like tracking pay funding and unemployment costs, analyzing trends in compensation and benefits, and preparing reports to guide leadership on resource use.

Organizational Location: This position is with the Department of Homeland Security, within U.S.
Customs and Border Protection, Office of Human Resources Management, Mission Support located in one of the following locations: Washington, D.C.
Minneapolis, MN Indianapolis, IN Additional selections may be made to include other organizational divisions and/or units within the duty location(s) listed above.
Experience: You qualify for the GS-12 grade level if you possess 1 year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level, performing duties such as: Supporting special projects and analyses related to budget responsibilities, including pay funding management, unemployment compensation, and other assigned tasks.
Monitoring the progress of organizational budgetary resources throughout the budget cycle and supporting managers and budget staff with advice and assistance on various phases of the budget program.
Preparing analyses of compensation and benefits activities, identifying trends and forecasts, and summarizing findings and recommendations for leadership.
Interpreting budget data, identifying trends, and recommending adjustments to optimize resource allocation.
Drafting reports that highlight contract performance, outline potential risks, and suggest opportunities for improvement.

Joining Customs and Border Protection (CBP) will allow you to utilize your skills developing annual and long-range HRM budget plans and administering the budget throughout the fiscal year.
This position starts at a salary of $89,508.00 (GS-12, Step 1) to $116,362.00 (GS-12, Step 10) with promotion potential to $138,370 (GS-13 Step 10).
Typical Work assignments include: Monitoring and analyzing budget execution, facilitating fund transfers, and developing financial reports that support the effective allocation and management of HRM resources.
Advising program managers on budget execution, resolving funding discrepancies, and providing support for special projects.
Working with assigned organizational functions and within the MSD budget team to monitor and report on execution of annual funding against HRM mission priorities to ensure adherence to budget objectives and funding limits.
Preparing reports and analyses to be presented during quarterly reviews of assigned organizational units' annual financial plan and budget execution plan.
