The role offers training and growth opportunities in a supportive team environment with some travel around the state.

What you will be doing: In this position you will perform structural engineering analysis and calculations for the development of bridge load ratings, bridge management tasks, and overload permit assessment.

Some design and preparation of bridge construction plans, specifications, cost estimates, and report tasks may be involved as well.
Our organization, mission and culture: The DOT&PF Bridge Section provides design services for new bridge and bridge rehabilitation construction projects, as well as a broad range of services associated with the existing inventory of the State's 1,000 public highway bridges.

Formal and in-house training are provided with a focus on advancing an Engineer 1 to the Technical Engineer 1 position.
Support to get a drone pilot's license and use drones for bridge inspection is also provided.
The working environment you can expect: The position is located in the Alaska DOT&PF Headquarters building in Juneau that is situated adjacent to the Gastineau Channel.
