In this position, you will complete specialized vehicle upfitting for multiple agencies, including the installation of K-9 kennels, prisoner transport cages, gun racks, emergency lighting, tactical storage boxes, fire extinguisher brackets, decals, and both electric and manual slide systems.
You will conduct advanced diagnostics and repairs on all major vehicle systems, including drivetrains, steering and suspension, braking systems, onboard computers, HVAC, fuel systems, and emissions components.
Responsibilities include preparing new vehicles for departmental service, readying high-mileage vehicles for reassignment, and processing unserviceable vehicles for auction.
Additionally, you will provide technical insight to support the research, design, and implementation of new or customized upfitting products.
Your duties will include performing annual state safety and emissions inspections, completing necessary repairs to ensure regulatory compliance, and conducting preventative maintenance on both gas and diesel vehicles.
This will include tune-ups, tire replacements, transmission servicing, coolant flushes, filter replacements, and oil changes in accordance with manufacturer guidelines and PSP maintenance standards.
