The Department of Transportation, Engineering District 9-7 in Somerset County, is currently on the lookout for a dedicated and skilled Automotive Body Repairer to join their team on a full-time basis.

As an Automotive Body Repairer, you will be responsible for diagnosing and repairing vehicle body damage, ensuring that all repairs meet safety and quality standards.

In this position, you will be responsible for delivering expert repair services for vehicles and equipment, ensuring that all departmental vehicles and maintenance tools, including body parts and glass, are restored and refinished to enhance their longevity and functionality.
Your tasks will include addressing rusted or damaged automotive equipment, employing various techniques such as welding, brazing, soldering, and the application of epoxy or fiberglass to achieve effective repairs.
You will evaluate whether to repair or replace components like doors and fenders, executing either partial or complete replacements as necessary.
Additionally, you will handle the replacement of broken windshields and side or rear glass, as well as repair or replace damaged seats, flooring, and other interior elements of the vehicles.
A critical aspect of your role will involve mixing paints to match existing colors and applying them using a spray gun, while also maintaining and cleaning the associated tools.
You will collaborate with supervisors, colleagues, and storeroom staff to recommend the ordering of specialized parts, ensuring that all tasks are completed efficiently.
Furthermore, you will meticulously document the work performed, the equipment serviced, the time spent, and the parts utilized on a daily time sheet to maintain accurate records.
