MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Three years of work experience coordinating sports activities and a proficiency in developing a sports program tailored to the needs of the participants.
A minimum one year of supervisory experience with demonstrated knowledge in personnel management and administration is preferred. Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
This is a mixed position where the incumbent must be able to lift and carry objects up to 45lbs independently and objects over 45lbs with assistance. Must be able to pass a physical exam. Major Duties:
MAJOR DUTIES: Serves as the Athletics Manager responsible for organizing, planning and executing the installation wide intramural sports program for a military community, as well as sports programs for civilians and adult family members.
Responsibilities include team sports programs and activities involving a variety recurring and non-recurring activities and special sporting events.
Provides recommendations to the Athletic Director and management regarding the effectiveness of ongoing sports activities based on participants¿ responses, resources, and program objectives.
Is the lead for coordinating the scheduling of all courts and fields for military and physical training. Ensures all equipment and supplies are available for all intramural programs.
Ensures that all venues are safe and ready for play. This includes loading and transporting of the athletic equipment in the gator to execute the event.
Assists in the preparation of briefings, letters of instruction, standing operating procedures, special reports, and after-action reports, etc. in the absence of the Athletic Director.
Provides input and justifications relating to programs, and activities including APF/NAF funding, facilities, supplies and equipment.
Coordinates with the use of supporting contracts such as officials and scorekeepers for all athletic programs and events.
Coordinates with Marketing Branch for the advertising of all tournaments, seasons, and special events.
Assists with the handling of routine correspondence, and inputs invoices for payment into the system.
Supervises employees to include: coaching, counseling, tutoring, and mentoring employees, completing performance reviews, training employees, keeping abreast of and actively supporting the principles of the EEO program, and prevention of sexual harassment.
Must be alert to alcohol and drug abuse and take appropriate action. Provides World Class Customer Service with an emphasis on courtesy.
Assists customers and communicates positively in a friendly manner. Takes action to solve problems quickly. Alerts the higher-level supervisor, or proper point of contact for help when problems arise.
Adheres to safety regulations and standards.
Promptly reports any observed workplace hazards, and any injury, occupational illness, and/or property damage resulting from workplace mishaps to the Athletic Director.
Performs other related duties as assigned.
