This job is for an Associate Warden at a secure men's prison in South Carolina, where you'll oversee daily operations like food services, maintenance, education programs, and inmate activities to keep the facility running smoothly.
You'll step in for the head warden when needed and handle reports on policies and procedures.
It's a good fit for someone with strong leadership skills from corrections, security, or military backgrounds who can manage teams under pressure and is okay with on-call duties.
Under limited supervision direct and manage the administrative, logistical support and program services of a medium adult male institution.
Direct and manage supply, canteen, mailroom, maintenance, food service, commissary and medical functions to provide support to the institution.
Direct and manage educational, dental, recreation, horticulture, pastoral care, prison industries and inmate organizations.
Perform duties of the Warden in his absence.
Serve as on-call official on rotating basis.
Prepare (write) various reports, special studies and staff papers, including recommendations relating to proposed changes in policies, operating procedures, rules, regulations and laws.
Perform related duties as required.
On-Call Employee.
State of South Carolina Minimum Requirements:
A bachelor's degree and supervisory experience in a correctional environment or relevant military experience. Relevant experience may be substituted for the bachelor's degree on a year-for-year basis.
SCDC Minimum Requirements:
A high school diploma and ten (10) years’ experience in correctional, security, military, or police work, Including five (5) years of supervisory experience in a correctional environment.
A degree in criminal justice or a related degree may substitute for up to 1/2 of required supervisory experience (associate = 2 years, bachelor's and above = 2 1/2 years).
Must be certified by the SCDC training academy and successfully complete the Basic supervisory course within six (6) months of entry into the position.
