This job is for the top leader at a medium-security prison in South Carolina, where you'll oversee everything from daily operations and inmate programs to security and staff safety.
It's a high-responsibility role that requires being available around the clock to handle emergencies like disturbances.

Plans, organizes, directs, coordinates, manages, and is responsible for all administrative, security, safety, welfare, and programmatic missions and activities for Wateree River correctional institution.
Ensures that all inmates assigned to this level two facility are secured and held in custody until released by proper authority; ensures the safety of all assigned employees.
Plans and implements programs for the inmates assigned to the institution.
Responds to and coordinates efforts relating to disturbances within the institution.
Ensures that institutional operations and programs are conducted in accordance with state laws, SCDC policy and good management practices; and that these functions are carried out in a cost-effective manner.
On call 24/7.
State of South Carolina Minimum Requirements:
A bachelor's degree and supervisory experience in a correctional environment or relevant military experience. Relevant experience may be substituted for the bachelor's degree on a year-for-year basis.
SCDC Minimum Requirements:
Twelve (12) years of experience in correctional, security, military, or police work, including six (6) years of supervisory experience in a correctional environment.
A degree in criminal justice or a related degree may substitute for up to 1/2 of required supervisory experience (associate = 2 years, bachelor's and above = 3 years).
Must be certified by the SCDC Training Academy and successfully complete the basic supervisory course within six (6) months of entry into the position.
