Advertised Job Summary

Under limited supervision and reporting to the Chief Operating Officer, the Assistant Vice President for Advancement Services (AVP ):

• Provides strategic leadership and operational oversight for advancement services across the University of South Carolina system.
• Responsible for guiding the university’s fundraising infrastructure, including data and information systems, analytics and client solutions, prospect strategy, revenue and compliance, and technical resources.
• Ensures the integrity, security, and optimization of advancement systems and processes to support fundraising success, donor stewardship, and alumni engagement.
• As a key member of the Development Leadership Team, the AVP collaborates with university partners, divisional leaders, and external stakeholders to align advancement services with institutional priorities.
• Serves as the primary liaison to the Division of Information Technology and the university’s alumni data steward, leading change management efforts, system enhancements, and continuous improvement initiatives to advance the university’s philanthropic mission.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities

Comprehensive knowledge of business analyst skills in principles and methods of planning and managing operational fundraising resources and programs. Operational development experience in non-pro?t or higher education and/or hybrid development model. Ability to establish and maintain good working relationships with faculty, alumni, donors, students, volunteers and the general public. Outstanding oral, written and interpersonal communication skills. Ability to travel to regional campuses and to conferences for continual professional development, work evenings and weekends, as required.
