Job Description

Summary

This job involves assisting in the oversight of ship repair and maintenance projects at a naval shipyard, where you'll guide teams, manage resources, and ensure systems are tested and functional.

It's ideal for someone with hands-on experience leading mechanical or electrical work on ships who enjoys coordinating complex projects in a team environment.

You'll advise management and help develop innovative ways to handle repairs and upgrades.

Key Requirements

  • At least one year of specialized experience at GS-12 level or equivalent, including planning, scheduling, and directing mechanical or electrical work on shipboard systems
  • Ability to act as a consultant or advisor to shipyard management at all levels
  • Skills in directing, supervising, and coordinating production efforts for ship overhaul, repair, modification, installation, and testing
  • Experience determining resource needs, such as manpower, materials, equipment, and staff support for short- and long-term projects
  • Capability to develop new techniques, criteria, and information for equipment repair, maintenance, or modification
  • Proficiency in operating and testing ship systems to verify operational capabilities
  • Ability to define workgroup activities, responsibilities, and delegate authority effectively

Full Job Description

You will serve as an ASSISTANT PROJECT SUPERINTENDENT in the PROGRAM MANAGEMENT/TEST DIVISION of the OCEAN ENGINEERING DEPARTMENT of PSNS and IMF.

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-12 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector.

Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: planning, communicating scheduling and work changes, or directing work efforts as outlined in work packages for leading or mentoring teams to perform mechanical or electrical work on shipboard systems.
