Advertised Job Summary
The faculty of the Department of Mathematics at the University of South Carolina, Columbia campus, invites applications for a 9-month, full-time, tenure-track position at the rank of assistant professor to begin August 16, 2026. The position is in the area of algebraic geometry and number theory.
Required Education and Experience
• The position requires a Ph.D. in Mathematics, by the start date of the appointment, an outstanding research record, a commitment to effective teaching at the undergraduate and graduate levels, and a demonstrated potential for excellence in both research and teaching.
Preferred Qualifications
• The successful candidate has an established research program in algebraic geometry and number theory.
• Preferred research areas are p-adic geometry and p-adic Hodge theory.
• We are looking for an outstanding candidate with demonstrated potential to establish a strong externally funded research program and publication record.
• The successful candidate is expected to teach at the undergraduate and graduate levels courses at the graduate level in the Department of Mathematics.
