Full Job Description

Are you ready to take the driver's seat in Commonwealth infrastructure management? If so, the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT), Fayette County Maintenance Office is seeking an innovative and motivated Assistant Highway Maintenance Manager to take the lead in moving District 12 forward.

Requirements

This pivotal leadership role is responsible for overseeing all PennDOT maintenance activities within Fayette County to ensure for safe and efficient roadways throughout District 12.

You will supervise general and specialized maintenance crews in the performance of highway and bridge maintenance activities and minor construction projects.

Specific duties will involve planning, scheduling, and controlling all work including snow removal, signage, bridge maintenance, surface treatment and patching, and other operations as necessary.

You will develop various programs, estimates, and plans, as well as engage in the development, negotiations, oversight, and evaluation of agility agreements to ensure services are being exchanged in a fair and equitable manner.

Safety is a top priority of this position, therefore it is essential to remain current on all safety related trainings and consistently assess the work environment to ensure for the safety of yourself, your co-workers, and the public.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment
  • Work hours are 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
  • Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • One year of experience as a Highway Maintenance Coordinator, Roadway Programs Coordinator, or Transportation Construction Manager 1 (Commonwealth job titles or equivalent Federal Government job titles, as determined by the Office of Administration); or
  • Six years of technical experience in highway maintenance, highway construction, or maintenance of heavy equipment used in highway construction projects; or
  • An equivalent combination of experience and training.


Special Requirement:

  • This position requires possession of a valid PA non-commercial Class C driver’s license or equivalent.
