Job Description

Summary

This job involves helping run a fitness center on a U.S.

Army base in Italy, including supervising staff, managing equipment and budgets, planning sports programs, and promoting events to keep soldiers and families active.

Full Job Description

This position is located at USAG Italy - MWR, Ederle Fitness Center, Vicenza, Italy. Incentives and Bonuses Incentives will not be paid. Resumes must be two pages (or less).

Resumes should clearly demonstrate the applicant's relevant experience, skills, knowledge and abilities as they pertain to this position.

A qualified candidate must possess the following: Work experience that includes the demonstrated ability to carry-out a sports program that included a variety of individual and team sports.

Work experience guiding participants in developing the skills needed for participation in sports activities and teaching the techniques of various sports.

(The related work experience must have been equivalent in difficulty and complexity to the next lower grade level).

In addition to the above qualifications, candidates who possess the following qualifications will be considered "Highly Preferred" or "Best Qualified": Candidates who possess a combination of education (an undergraduate in related fields such as physical education or kinesiology) and work experience as identified above.

Possession of a nationally identified Basic Fitness Trainer Certification. Possess six (6) months experience in personnel and budget management.

Ability to plan and coordinate fitness programs and direct fitness facility operations.

Possess experience with point of sales systems ( e.g., RecTrac) with the ability to reconcile installment billing for facility subscriptions (i.e., Locker rental, contractor billing/payables).

  • Assists the Fitness Facility Manager in the overall management and operation of a fitness facility. Leads and or supervises the operation during second shift of program operations and in the absence of the Fitness Manager.
  • Assists in the assessment of facility requirements and helps develop plans and specifications for projects to augment or replace fitness and sports facilities.
  • Assist in the publicizing sports facilities, programs and events by drafting articles for local newspapers and as instructed by supervisor coordinates with marketing for posters, flyers and other promotional material.
  • Assists in the development and reviews specifications for instructors and other contracts. Oversees facility cleanliness contracts and standard operating procedures. Conducts classes and walks all facility rooms to provide guidance as appropriate.
  • Oversees the inventory of property; fitness equipment condition; tracks maintenance and repair or replacement as appropriate.
