Job Description

Summary

This role involves leading re-entry programs for inmates in South Carolina's prison system, helping them prepare for life after release by building partnerships with community organizations and industries.

It also includes managing staff, updating policies, and handling special projects to ensure everything follows state and federal rules.

A good fit would be someone with extensive experience in program management and corrections who is skilled at networking and supporting former inmates in finding jobs and resources.

Key Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field
  • Ten years of relevant program management or correctional management experience
  • Ten years of upper management experience
  • Experience in program design, development, implementation, and reentry/community outreach for offenders (preferred)
  • Ability to evaluate personnel for compliance with SCDC policies, state, and federal regulations
  • Skills in composing and updating policies and procedures
  • Proficiency in developing relationships with federal, state, local agencies, community partners, and prison industries

Full Job Description

  • Under the direction of Deputy Director of PRRS (Programs, Reentry) directs and manages re-entry programs at institutions.
  • Oversees and participates in the decision-making process for other divisions as directed by the Deputy Director.
  • Evaluates personnel to ensure compliance with SCDC policies and procedures, as well as state and federal rules and regulations.
  • Composes and updates policies and procedures.
  • Directs special projects, assignments and prepares special reports.
  • Develops working relationships with federal, state and local agencies.
  • Develops and maintains relationship with prison industries for the purpose of connecting skilled offenders with employment in the community after release.
  • Develop working relationship with community partners to assist released/soon to be released returning citizens.
  • Oversees and monitors personal matters.

Requirements

State of South Carolina Minimum Requirements

A bachelor's degree and relevant program management experience.

SCDC Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree and ten (10) years relevant program management or correctional management experience.

  • Must have ten (10) years’ experience in upper management.

Qualifications

Program design/development/Implementation and reentry/community outreach work for offenders Is preferred.
