This job involves assisting the lead agent in running a key section of a county probation and parole office, including managing staff, developing programs for offenders, and handling training and public relations.
It's ideal for someone with experience in criminal justice or counseling who enjoys supervising teams and working with people in the justice system. Only current employees in the department can apply.
Assistant to the Agent-in-Charge, directs, manages and coordinates the activities of a major multi-functional section of a large county office; manages human resources within the section; participates in the development, implementation and evaluation of office operating procedures and special county programs for offenders under the Department's supervision; participates in the implementation of Field Operation evaluation plans at the county level; maintains a professional communication network inside and outside the Department; participates in training county staff; promotes public relations within the county.
A bachelor's degree with at least 15 semester hours in social or behavioral science courses and experience in probation and parole work.
An associate’s degree and two (2) years of military or certified law enforcement experience (to include Class 1 or Offender Supervision Specialist experience) may be substituted; or a high school diploma and four (4) years of military or certified law enforcement experience (to include Class 1 or Offender Supervision Specialist experience) may be substituted.
A bachelor's degree in criminal justice, social work, psychology, sociology, education, counseling or other social/behavior sciences or a bachelor's degree which includes at least 15 credit hours in the aforementioned disciplines and completion of four (4) years’ experience in criminal justice, counseling, or related professional human service work.
Supervisory experience is preferred. A regular volunteer and participant in deployments and other special operational events.
NECESSARY SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: Certification by the Law Enforcement Training Council in accordance with 23-23-40 of the Code of Laws of South Carolina 1976.
