This role involves leading workforce development projects to support business expansions in South Carolina, ensuring new jobs are created through effective training and resource management.
The Area Director coordinates project scopes, budgets, and timelines while promoting economic growth in local areas.
It's ideal for someone with a background in business development or project management who enjoys working with diverse teams and adapting to dynamic environments.
Manage all tasks associated with multiple small or large-scale workforce development projects that result from a business location or expansion in the state and that involves new employment opportunities for the State’s citizens.
Deploy the organizations project management approach and methodologies of discovery, design, and delivery of projects and key components of the organizations core competencies in business development, training and project execution to delivery state incentive services to client companies in the most effective manner; managing the human, capital and equipment resources required to successfully execute the project.
Coordinate and manage workforce projects using the prescribed methodologies designed by the organization based on project level complexity and specific client company requirements.
Develop final scope of work, budget, and schedules for multiple small or large-scale projects to ensure project deliverables are met on time and within budget.
Manages the business development efforts that lead to the attraction and retention of workforce projects in the local college service area, and represents the SC Technical College System, readySCTM and the State of South Carolina in attending meetings of local, state, national and international organizations involved in the project management of economic development activities to enhance competence and awareness in technology, training techniques, methods and innovations.
A bachelor's degree in a related area and experience in marketing, economic development, sales, or customer service.
Experience in project management. Candidates must have strong presentation and communication skills.
Must be able to manage multiple tasks and responsibilities to include, but not limited to problem solving, flexible work scheduling, adapting to a changing environment and working with a wide variety of people at all levels.
Certification as a Project Management Professional (PMP) or Certified Associate in Project Management (CAPM) is highly desirable but not required.
Must possess ability to manage project budgets in designated area, ranging from $5,000 to over $2,000,000.
