Full Job Description

You will serve as a Antenna Mechanic at NRS T JIM CREEK.

Although a specific length of time and experience is not required for most trade and labor occupations, you must show through experience and training that you possess the quality level of knowledge and skill necessary to perform the duties of the position at the level for which you are applying.

Qualification requirements emphasis is on quality of experience, not necessarily the length of time.

Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the job elements and screen out listed below.

Experience directing the raising or lowering of an antenna panel and reading blueprints and work from sketches.

Experience using hand tools, small power tools, power assist equipment, and motor vehicle equipment.

Experience working assignments and making sound decisions after exhausting climbing on the VLF towers.

Experience operating heavy equipment such as drum hoists, category 4 cranes, bulldozers, backhoe, forklift and bucket truck. Must meet licensing requirements.

  • You will perform the maintenance and repairs to antenna panels, ground system components and sea terminals.
  • You will have knowledge of gas cutting and welding, exothermic welding, weight handling equipment including estimating safe working load.
  • You will be computer literate-able to use standard computer programs such as Word, Access, Excell, etc.
  • You will operate heavy-duty winch equipment, reeling devices. hoists, man-lifts and material and weight handling equipment.
  • You will apply knowledge of proper knots, splices, and terminations of wire rope and fibrous ropes.
  • You will demonstrate the proper use of band and power tools.
  • You will apply basic knowledge of various electrical and electronic test instruments such as voltmeters, Amprobe and antenna test sets and use of conductor locating equipment.
