Full Job Description

This position performs duties in the operation and maintenance of the facility's water plant, chiller plant, boiler plant, and the auxiliary equipment associated with these systems.

The position also performs pool operation and maintenance duties, as well as additional maintenance duties as required.

Applicants will be rated in accordance with the OPM Federal Wage System Qualification Standards.

SCREEN-OUT ELEMENT: Your qualifications will first be evaluated against the prescribed screen out element, which usually appears as question 1 in the on-line questionnaire.

Those applicants who appear to possess at least the minimal acceptable qualification requirement are considered for further rating; those who do not are rated ineligible and are eliminated.

Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment.

You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Note: A full year of work is considered to be 35-40 hours of work per week.

Part-time experience will be credited on the basis of time actually spent in appropriate activities.

Applicants wishing to receive credit for such experience must indicate clearly the nature of their duties and responsibilities in each position and the number of hours a week spent in such employment.

Major Duties:

The incumbent will operate, maintain, and repair multiple microfiltration and nanofiltrations membrane units, aeration tower, granular activated carbon filtration system, chorine disinfection units, supervisory control data system "SCADA", two high service pumps, two low service pumps, air compressors, a pneumatic actuated control system, chemical feed pumps, and 3 water wells that produce on average 300,000 gallons per day.

Maintain, read and calibrate flow pressure and level transducers and various water testing probes.

Demonstrates the ability to operate, maintain, and repair various sodium ion exchange water softening systems, deionized water systems, reverse osmosis systems, as well as their associated pumps, piping, and chemical feed systems.

The incumbent must have a complete understanding of water chemical treatment standards and procedures. Operate and maintain one

750,000 elevated water tower, one

400,000 in-ground reservoir, one

40,000 gallon clear well, and associated water systems.

Operate, maintain, and make repairs to the 250,000-gallon swimming pool, pumps, and chemical feed systems according to state and county regulations.

The incumbent will routinely collect raw, finished, swimming pool, distribution, reverse osmosis, deionized, softened water, and wastewater or any other samples deemed necessary by the Supervisor or the Operations and Maintenance Foreman.

Samples collected are to be analyzed as needed. The incumbent will operate, maintain, and repair the critical deionization water system to the ANSI/ AAMI standard 108:2023.

The incumbent is required to have knowledge in hyperchlorination of pipes, tanks, swimming pools, and distribution systems in accordance with EPA and WV Bureau of Public Health guidelines.

The incumbent will operate, maintain, and repair three wastewater pumping stations (one triplex and two duplex).

Incumbent is required to hold a West Virginia Class II Public Water System Operator license and to certify as a Swimming Pool Operator for the State of West Virginia.
