The Department of Corrections is seeking devoted and passionate Adult Basic Education Teacher, Correction Education to join our staff at the State Correctional Institution (SCI) at Smithfield.
In this role, you will work as part of a dedicated team where collaboration and communication are integral to deliver educations services to inmates.

In this position, you will provides adult basic education to incarcerated adult women.
Your work will involve preparing lesson plans by specifying content and activities to be covered, sequence of instruction, material needed and standards for lesson accomplishment.
You will prepare assessment techniques and analyze the information gathered to determine adult inmate capabilities and readiness of learning.
Classroom instruction will include a variety of subjects including basic math, reading, science, social studies, and career development.
You will also prepare and administer quizzes, tests, and exercises to direct students' study and measure individual achievement.
Additionally, you will monitor inmate behavior, establish classroom rules and procedures to maintain an effective learning environment, and discipline disruptive students.
