This job involves traveling across an assigned area to promote a specialized arts and humanities high school through school visits, community events, and festivals, while helping prospective students and families with applications and serving as their main point of contact.
It also includes managing student data in the school's system and supporting admissions events.
A good fit would be someone outgoing and organized who enjoys working with teens and families, has experience in education or outreach, and doesn't mind lots of driving.

Under the general supervision of the Assistant Director of Admissions, the Admissions Counselor Is responsible for promoting the South Carolina Governor's School for the Arts and Humanities in an assigned territory through presentations in schools and community organizations, as well as participation in festivals and conferences throughout the state.
The Admissions Counselor assists the Assistant Director of Admissions with the management of assigned data and contacts In the application system.
The Admissions Counselor will serve as the first line of communication between prospective students/families and the school.

A bachelor's degree and relevant program experience.
Be proficient with Microsoft Office and Google Workspace (G Suite).
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
Excellent written and interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate effectively with a diverse group of stakeholders.
Knowledge of basic principles and theories of admissions practices and educational administration. Knowledge of laws, policies, and procedures affecting enrollment and retention.
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, parents, faculty, staff and the general public.
Ability to identify, develop and implement strategies, programs and activities that will benefit the campus community and increase enrollment. Must have a valid driver's license.
This position requires extensive travel, including overnight travel. Must have your own vehicle for travel.
