King County's Department of Community and Human Services (DCHS) provides equitable opportunities for people to be healthy, happy, and connected to community.


The Housing and Community Development (HCD) Division works in partnership with organizations and communities to provide services and programs that support housing stability and affordable housing opportunities in King County. We accomplish this by awarding funds to community groups and cities through contracts – making them the primary vehicle for our services. HCD is seeking an energetic individual to join our team. We are currently recruiting for an Administrator II. This individual is responsible for the oversight of the division's internal communication and engagement, which includes staff meetings, note taking, event coordination, website and SharePoint management.


This recruitment is to fill a Term-Limited Temporary (TLT) position that is anticipated to end December 31, 2026. If filled by a King County employee who has passed their initial probation, the TLT will be as a Special Duty Assignment (SDA).

Requirements

To be considered minimally qualified applicant must demonstrate a background that provides the knowledge, skills and ability to:

  • Respond and triage communications from the division email inbox.
  • Schedule and coordinate all HCD meetings and events.
  • Record and distribute all meeting minutes.
  • Support compliance for the division's records management obligations.
  • Collect and analyze staff feedback.
  • Support HCD work culture improvement strategies.
  • Serve as HCD website and SharePoint lead.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

WE ARE LOOKING FOR CANDIDATES WHO HAVE:

  • At least 3 years of experience in administrative coordination and support.
  • At least 3 years of experience coordinating events, managing meetings and note taking.
  • Can maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information.
  • Have strong interpersonal skills
  • Have excellent written and verbal communication.
  • Can work effectively both independently and collaboratively.
  • Can adapt and be flexible in a dynamic work environment.
  • Experience using SharePoint and other Microsoft tools.
  • Has experience in website management.
  • Has an understanding of equity, racial and social justice principles.
  • Has strong customer service skills.

  • Experience with records management.
  • Experience with Sitecore website platform.
  • Experience working in the public sector.
  • Experience supporting a staff of over 50 employees.

ADDITIONAL POSITION INFORMATION:

This position has been designated Non-Mission Critical.

Unless otherwise directed by the County Executive, department director or agency head, all employees, regardless of designation, are expected to report to work or request leave during an emergency or inclement weather.

The HCD team works in a hybrid model, with days in the office as well as telecommuting. The ratio of remote to onsite work will be dependent on business needs and is subject to change.

The primary onsite location is Chinook, 401 5th Ave, Seattle, WA 98104.

Employees must reside in Washington state and within a reasonable distance to their King County worksite to respond to workplace reporting requirements.King County has a robust collection of tools and resources to support working remotely.

The individual selected for this opportunity will join an innovative and progressive team that is redefining how we work as we transition to the department's hybrid environment.

Employees will be provided with a County-issued laptop and must maintain a home workspace with an internet connection where they can reliably perform work and remain available and responsive during scheduled work hours.

  • This position is scheduled to work 40 hours per week, Monday - Friday, 8am - 5pm. This position meets the provisions of the Fair Labor Standards Act and is overtime eligible with supervisory pre-approval.
