Are you seeking a dynamic position that leverages your exceptional organizational and administrative abilities to support various functions such as budgeting, technical program support, accounting, auditing, purchasing, and contracting for the Department of Environmental Protection (DEP)? We are in search of a candidate with outstanding interpersonal skills capable of fostering strong relationships both within the organization and with external partners to take on the role of Administrative Officer 1. In this position, you will play a key role in project coordination, assist with data management, and help prepare reports that showcase our sustainability initiatives. Requirements

As an Administrative Officer 1, you will provide a wide-range of administrative service functions for the Bureau of Waterways Engineering and Wetlands (BWEW), inclusive of budgeting, fiscal and grant management, personnel duties, purchasing, and contracting.

Specific tasks entail researching, organizing, monitoring, and analyzing all functions of administrative support sources in order to ensure that all budget items, commodities, equipment, contract needs, personnel issues, and general day-to-day operations are maintained at an optimal standard.


Fiscal assignments will involve
managing the bureau’s annual budget and providing advice and strategic recommendations to the Bureau Director on allocation of financial resources to ensure that purchases and expenditures are appropriate and within funding limits. You will also administer the bureau’s state and federal grant programs, approve and submit grant invoices, and monitor grant expenditures to ensure availability of funds. Additional duties include supervising all purchasing activity within the bureau, developing all of the bureau service contracts, and providing guidance and supervision for clerical and administrative personnel.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment
  • Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
  • Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time, up to 3 days per week.

    In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania.

    If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Harrisburg. The ability to telework is subject to change at any time.

  • Salary: Selected candidates who are new to employment with the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania will begin employment at the starting annual salary of $51,971.00 (before taxes).

Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • Two years of experience in varied office management or staff work; and bachelor's degree; or any equivalent combination of experience and training.
