The General Sessions Music City Community Court, Division VIII (8) hereinafter referred to as “GSMCCC” is a unique project and the first of its kind in the State of Tennessee and Davidson County. The vision of this court rests upon a robust partnership between the community and the criminal justice system in both operational and policy support to the judiciary and community court team members.

These responsibilities include assisting Judge Rachel L. Bell and the GSMCCC Team in management services essential with supporting the court's daily operations, strategic planning, development, and coordination of interagency and community partnerships.

The ADMINISTRATIVE ASSISTANT will report and provide the most complex and varied professional administrative support to Judge Rachel L. Bell, the presiding judge of the General Sessions Music City Community Court, Division VIII (8), for operational purposes.

Judge Rachel L. Bell started the General Sessions Music City Community Court in 2012 and since its inception, the court has piloted several community initiatives focused on preventative, restorative and diversionary justice with the concept, that “Justice does NOT stop and the courthouse steps” and charged to use all of its power and resources to help move the needle for marginalized people.

Requirements

Performs the most complex and varied professional level administrative work.Coordinates activities within department providing direct support for a division manager or higher level manager.Plans work assignments for administrative support or clerical personnel.Interprets policies, rules, and regulations as required.Analyzes and recommends methods for improving work flow in areas such as record keeping systems, forms control, and general office operation.Conducts initial review of complaints and resolves those within delegated authority.Gathers relevant statistical, financial, and related data used in planning and decision making.Develops and recommends courses of action open to the department and analyzes probable consequences.Prepares concise reports on programs or projects.Implements and/or oversees implementation of programs or projects.Acts as liaison for supervising manager as requested.Prepares directives and difficult correspondence.Follows up on implementation of directives.May participate in management staff meetings.Schedules appointments/meetings for Judge Bell using Microsoft Outlook and all of its features.Maintains crucial records and disseminates information as necessary.May oversee and participate in work of interns and gathering information from staff assignments for Judge Bell.Will handle confidential and sensitive information.SUPERVISION EXERCISED\SUPERVISION RECEIVEDMay exercise supervisory responsibility over clerical or technical support personnel.Employee receives general supervision and reports to a designated supervisor, who assigns and reviews duties and provides guidance and/or assistance with unusual or complex matters.WORKING ENVIRONMENT\PHYSICAL DEMANDSWork involves everyday risks or discomforts that require normal safety precautions typical of such places as offices, meeting and training rooms, etc.

Work area is adequately lighted, heated, and ventilated. Overtime work occasionally may be required.Employee works primarily in an office setting under generally favorable working conditions.

Work is sedentary; however, there may be some walking, standing, bending, carrying light items, etc.No special physical demands are required to perform the work.

Qualifications EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE College Degree or 5 years of experience in an administrative role. Candidates with accreditations earned in a foreign institute are encouraged to apply.
