This job involves supporting a transportation maintenance team by handling employee hiring, records, benefits, and training, while also coordinating public requests and assisting during emergencies like bad weather.
It's ideal for someone organized and detail-oriented who enjoys administrative work in a public service setting and can handle occasional extended hours.
No advanced degree is needed, just basic experience and a driver's license.
Assist Resident Maintenance Engineer and Assistant Resident Maintenance Engineer with personnel actions including hiring, promotions, transfers and disciplinary measures.
Assist supervisors with EPMS Annual Review Process. Obtains required documents in the hiring process. Compiles and submits information for underutilization requests.
Schedule appointments for pre-employment drug screenings. Maintains personnel records of maintenance employees.
Conducts orientation sessions to acquaint new employees with agency policies, procedures, and regulations.
Communicate information to all employees regarding insurance, retirement benefits, deferred compensation, and all other benefits and programs.
Assist employees with establishing and maintaining account access for SCEIS Central and PEBA Programs, such as My Benefits, Member Access and Deferred Compensation.
Maintains worker compensation and damage claim information in Risk Management System.
Receives requests from the public and relays messages to maintenance crews of various issues on highway right-of-way within the county. Acts as Wellness Coordinator for unit.
Assists during emergency and inclement weather operations. May include being available for extended working hours or 12 hour shifts. Performs other related duties as assigned.
A high school diploma and six (6) months of work experience that is directly related to the area of employment; or an approved acceptable equivalence. A valid motor vehicle operator's license is required.
The physical demands for the essential functions of this position include sitting or standing at a desk for extended periods and working on a computer. May be required to lift up to 30 lbs.
May be required to work outside of normal work schedule, especially during inclement weather and/or other departmental-related emergencies.
