These programs were primarily designed to promote economic development through direct state lending in industries and areas of the state that are not adequately serviced by the private sector.

Imagine This, from your seat as an Accounting Technician 1:

  • Your desk becomes the place where financial details come together. You’re the one entering transactions, reviewing and preparing deposits, and making sure the Division’s financial records stay accurate and up to date.

  • You work closely with the Accounting Technician 2, 3, Accountant 3 and the Systems Manager, supporting them by maintaining accounting files, reconciling accounts, processing payments, and helping ensure fiscal workflows run smoothly across the Division.

As this is an on-site position and not eligible for telework, you will be working in our headquarters office located on the 9th floor of the State Office Building in beautiful downtown Juneau.

The 9th floor has a fully equipped and spacious break room, that you will have full access to, as well as easy access to various restaurants and coffee shops downtown.

Who We’re Looking For:

  • Foundational knowledge of accounting procedures and practices;

  • Experience identifying discrepancies or inaccuracies in data, and making necessary corrections;

  • Ability to interpret, apply, and explain laws, rules, and regulations as related to accounting;

  • Knowledge of loan accounting, interest calculation and amortization; and

  • Experience with the state accounting system IRIS, or other automated accounting systems.

Requirements

One year of clerical work experience maintaining records that included using computer systems and performing basic arithmetic calculations.

Substitutions:
Successful completion of a formal vocational education program in accounting or bookkeeping will substitute for the required experience.

Post secondary education from an accredited college will substitute for the required experience (3 semester/4 quarter hours equal one month).

Qualifications

At time of interview applicants are requested to submit:
  • Three (3) most recent evaluations, or three (3) professional reference letters.

  • List three (3) current professional references that have had supervisory responsibility over you along with their current phone number and email address.

EDUCATION
If post-secondary education is required to meet the minimum qualifications, you must fill in the Education section of the application. If you have not obtained a degree, please indicate the number of units completed. Copies of transcripts are required to verify educational credentials if used to meet the minimum qualifications for a position. Transcripts can be attached at the time of application or provided at the time of interview.

If using work experience not already documented in your application, also provide the employer's name, your job title, dates of employment, and whether full-or part-time.
