This position is located at Bureau of the Fiscal Service, Agency Reporting and Analysis Divison.

As an Accountant (Staff) (Senior Accountant), you will complete assignments of a project management and policy development nature and/or advise on and perform professional accounting work that requires application of accounting theories.

You must meet the following requirements within 30 days of the closing date of this announcement. The experience may have been gained in either the public, private sector or volunteer service.

One year of experience refers to full-time work; part-time work is considered on a prorated basis.

Specialized experience for the GS-13 is defined as one year of experience at the GS-12 level, or equivalent that is directly related to the position and which has equipped the candidate with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position.

Specialized experience for this grade must include: Analyze current accounting operations in order to improve efficiencies; AND Lead projects and groups; AND Use and create spreadsheets using advanced Excel functions to compile data and reconciliations.

In addition to the above requirements, you must meet the following time-in-grade requirement, if applicable: For the GS-13, you must have been at the GS-12 level for 52 weeks. Major Duties:

As an Accountant (Staff) (Senior Accountant), you will: Coordinate efforts on complex accounting issues and resolve government wide or customer issues.

Efforts involved require the incumbent to work with high profile customers and/or agencies.

Coordinate efforts to execute highly specialized programs and/or complete high-profile projects that obtain scrutiny from the general public, Treasury, OMB, and/or other federal agencies.

These projects can include, but are not limited to, production of the Daily Treasury Statement (DTS), reviewing and making changes to the United States Standard General Ledger (USSGL) Treasury Financial Manual (TFM) Supplement which is accounting policy for the government wide community, and reviewing and interpreting OMB, Federal Accounting Standards Advisory Board (FASAB), & Treasury authoritative guidance.

Serve as a technical expert and consultant to management, staff and/or customers and stakeholders on controversial, complex, and difficult accounting problems or projects that require escalation; Such issues may require the development of unique or new approaches to address issues that cannot be resolved through more routine and accepted practices.

Be responsible for the preparation, review, analysis, and or submission of high-profile financial statements that are compliant with governing regulations.

Provide technical guidance to other accountants, and/or external team members including contracted support vendors who may, from time to time, be assigned to task or project groups headed by the incumbent.
