Job Description

Summary

This job involves managing financial funds, preparing and analyzing reports on payroll, payments, and banking for the Defense Finance and Accounting Service in Texarkana, Texas.

The role requires overseeing accounting tasks and providing guidance to ensure everything runs smoothly for the Department of Defense.

Key Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree with at least 24 semester hours in accounting, or equivalent combination of education and 4+ years of accounting experience

  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or Certified Internal Auditor (CIA) certification obtained through written exam, or substantial accounting coursework
  • Experience in accounting management, including financial reports, payroll, accounts payable, and banking data
  • Ability to develop, monitor, review, and analyze financial data and revise processes to meet new requirements
  • Skills in providing guidance and direction to accomplish mission objectives

This position is located at Defense Finance and Accounting Service -Texarkana, Texas... Incentives and Bonuses Incentives will not be paid. Resumes must be two pages (or less).

A qualified candidate must possess the following: A bachelor's degree is required which includes a minimum of 24 semester hours in accounting and work experience of the type described above.

or Combination of education and experience -- at least 4 years of experience in accounting, or an equivalent combination of accounting experience, college-level education, and training that provided professional accounting knowledge.

The applicant's background must also include one of the following: Twenty-four semester hours in accounting or auditing courses of appropriate type and quality.

This can include up to 6 hours of business law.

A certificate as Certified Public Accountant or a Certified Internal Auditor, obtained through written examination; or Completion of the requirements for a degree that included substantial course work in accounting or auditing, e.g., 15 semester hours, but that does not fully satisfy the 24-semester-hour requirement.

Experience MUST be reflected on RESUME in order to receive credit. Transcripts MUST be uploaded at the time of application. Major Duties:

  • Performs or directs the accounting management of the fund.
  • Develops, monitors, reviews and/or analyzes financial reports, payroll, accounts payable, internal review follow-up and banking data.
