Job Description

Summary

This job involves leading a team of 10-15 accountants who handle financial services for multiple military installations, including assigning tasks, providing guidance, and ensuring accurate accounting practices.

It requires applying professional accounting principles to analyze financial data, review records, and act as the main contact for accounting issues.

A good fit would be someone with a strong accounting background, leadership experience in finance, and the ability to manage teams in a government or military setting.

Key Requirements

  • Four-year degree in accounting or related field (e.g., business administration, finance, public administration) with at least 24 semester hours in accounting
  • OR two years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to a master's degree in accounting or equivalent
  • OR one year of specialized experience as a senior or supervisory accountant at the next lower grade level
  • Alternative qualification: four years of accounting experience or combination of education/training providing professional accounting knowledge, including 24 semester hours in accounting/auditing, CPA certification, or degree with 15 hours in accounting/auditing
  • Ability to supervise 10-15 employees and manage accounting services for 15-20 installations
  • Proficiency in applying accounting theories, concepts, and principles to perform financial analyses and reviews

Full Job Description

This position is located at Defense Finance and Accounting Service - Texarkana. Incentives and Bonuses Incentives will not be paid. Resumes must be two pages (or less).

Resumes should clearly demonstrate the applicant's relevant experience, skills, knowledge and abilities as they pertain to this position. A qualified candidate must possess the following: 1.

Two years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to a master's degree or master's or equivalent graduate degree. OR 2.

One year of specialized experience at the next lower grade level in a senior or supervisory accountant capacity. PLUS 1.

In addition to 1 or 2 above, possess a four-year degree in accounting or related field such as business administration, finance, or public administration that included or was supplemented by 24 semester hours in accounting.

OR 2.

Four years' experience in accounting or combination of accounting experience, college-level education, and training that provided professional accounting knowledge and included one of the following: 24 semester hours in accounting or auditing courses Certificate as Certified Public Accountant or Certified Internal Auditor A four-year degree from an accredited college which includes a minimum of 15 semester hours in accounting and auditing.

  • Supervises 10 to 15 employees providing accounting services to 15 to 20 installations and makes assignments by outlining the overall objectives and the resources available.
  • Provides guidance and direction necessary to effectively accomplish mission requirements. Performs professional accounting work that requires application of accounting theories, concepts, and principles.
  • Serves as point of contact for all matters dealing with the accounting function.
  • Produces narrative analyses based on current, historical and budgeted financial data. Performs selected reviews of source documents, accounting records and financial statements to ensure conformance with regulations and NFS operating procedures.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
