The Department of Environmental Protection is seeking an Aboveground Storage Tank Technical Review Specialist Trainee to join our team.
Under the direction of the Aboveground Storage Tank (AST) Section Chief, this position plays a key role in protecting the environment by overseeing the third-party inspection program that prevents releases of regulated petroleum and hazardous substances from aboveground storage tanks.

This position is under the direct supervision of the aboveground storage tank unit chief.
The purpose of the position is to protect the environment from releases of regulated (petroleum and hazardous) substances from aboveground storage tanks (ASTs) through implementation of the third-party inspection program.
In this position you’ll gain knowledge and experience with storage tank regulations, standards and managing program level documentation.
You’ll learn to review and interpret inspection reports, technical guidance documents, and fact sheets about ASTs.

Throughout the program, you will build knowledge, skills, and abilities in tank technology—including installation, repair, inspection, and operation—as they relate to the Storage Tank and Spill Prevention Program.
Upon successful completion of the training period, you will be promoted to Solid Waste Specialist.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:
Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time up to 3 days per week.
In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania.
If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Harrisburg. The ability to telework is subject to change at any time.
